What are the LinkedIn carousel and Pinterest video specs?
A LinkedIn carousel is a document post: a PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC or DOCX file of up to 100 MB and 300 pages. A Pinterest video Pin takes an MP4, MOV or M4V file from 4 seconds to 15 minutes, up to 2 GB, between 1.91:1 and 1:2, with a cover image.
LinkedIn carousel (document) specs
- File types: PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC or DOCX.
- Size: up to 100 MB and 300 pages.
- Page size: LinkedIn's documentation doesn't set one. Use the same size on every page; square or vertical pages fill more of a phone screen.
- If you'd rather post a clip: LinkedIn video is MP4, 3 seconds to 30 minutes, 75 KB to 500 MB.
How to make and schedule a LinkedIn carousel
Design the pages
One idea per page, big text, your name or logo on each. Eight to twelve pages is plenty for most posts.
Export one PDF
Export the slides as a single PDF and check it's under 100 MB. If it's bigger, compress the images.
Add it as a document
In LinkedIn's post box, add a document, upload the PDF and give it a title. Adding the pages as images makes an image post instead.
Write the post text
The text above the carousel does the selling. Put the point of the carousel in the first line.
Post or schedule it
Post it straight away, or use a scheduler that supports LinkedIn documents. Not every tool does, so check before you build the deck.
If Hootsuite or another scheduler rejects your LinkedIn carousel
Tools that post to LinkedIn for you work within LinkedIn's own limits, so check those first:
- Is the file a PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC or DOCX? Images in a zip or a Keynote file won't go.
- Is it under 100 MB and 300 pages?
- Was it added as a document, not as separate images?
- Is LinkedIn still connected in the tool? An expired connection stops every post until you reconnect it.
- If the file passes all of these, the tool's own help pages are the next stop: this guide can't speak for any one tool's limits.
Pinterest video Pin specs
- File types: MP4, MOV or M4V, encoded with H.264 or H.265.
- Size: up to 2 GB.
- Length: 4 seconds to 15 minutes. Pinterest recommends 6 to 15 seconds.
- Shape: between 1.91:1 and 1:2. Pinterest recommends square (1:1) or vertical (2:3, 4:5 or 9:16).
- Title up to 100 characters, of which the first 40 may show in feeds; description up to 800.
- Image Pins, for comparison: PNG or JPEG, with 2:3 (1000 × 1500 pixels) recommended.
Why are my scheduled Pinterest video Pins failing to post?
- No cover image. Every video Pin needs a video and a cover image, and a missing or broken cover image is rejected.
- The video hadn't finished processing. Pinterest processes each upload first and only makes the Pin once that's done, so a tool has to wait for it.
- The file is outside the limits: not MP4, MOV or M4V, under 4 seconds or over 15 minutes, over 2 GB, or wider than 1.91:1 or narrower than 1:2.
- The board is gone. Every Pin goes on a board; if the one you picked was deleted, choose another.
- Pinterest is no longer connected in your scheduler. Reconnect it.
Best aspect ratio for bulk scheduling TikTok videos
TikTok's developer docs don't name a ratio: through the API they accept 360 to 4,096 pixels on each side, 23 to 60 fps, up to 10 minutes and 4 GB. For a batch you'll also post as Reels and Shorts, export vertical 9:16 at 1080 × 1920, the ratio Meta recommends for Reels.
Before a big batch, check the longest video each account can post. TikTok sets it per account and shows it to the tools that post for you.

Limits for posting through each platform's API, from its own documentation (see Sources below). Posting by hand in the app can allow more. "Not stated" means the platform's docs don't give a number.
The easier way
- Socialhand designs carousels and makes reels, pins and posts in your brand, then posts them on all 8 platforms.
- Every post is checked against its platform's limits before you can approve it: caption length, hashtags, video length and carousel size. Anything that breaks a limit is flagged so it's fixed before it's scheduled.
- Pins without a link are flagged, so each one sends people somewhere.
- Plans start at $97 a month for all 8 platforms, and you can try it free first.
Questions people ask
What size should LinkedIn carousel pages be?
LinkedIn's documentation doesn't set a page size. Keep every page the same size; square or vertical pages fill more of a phone screen.
Why is my Pinterest video Pin stuck?
Check two things: that it has a cover image, and that the video finished processing. Pinterest only makes a video Pin after processing is done, and every video Pin needs a cover image.
What's the best aspect ratio for TikTok?
TikTok's docs don't name one. Vertical 9:16 at 1080 × 1920 fits TikTok's limits and is what Meta recommends for Reels, so one export works for both.
