Why aren't my Shopify products showing on Facebook and Instagram?
Most often the product isn't available to the Facebook and Instagram by Meta channel, it's in draft or unlisted, it has a sync error such as a missing image or category, or Meta rejected it under its Commerce Policies. Check the product's Issues column in Shopify, then work down this list.
First, the channel itself
| What | What Shopify asks for |
|---|---|
| Your online store | Not in private mode, with a valid sender email. |
| Your business's own published Facebook Page, owned by your business portfolio when you set up the channel, with your account in full control of both. | |
| A professional account linked to that Facebook Page. | |
| Your website | Products must be available to buy directly from your verified domain. |
| Your country | The business must be in a country where Shops on Facebook and Instagram are available. |

Then check the product
It's Active and published to the channel
A product sells on a channel only when it's Active (or Unlisted) and published there. Unlisted products can't be published to other sales channels at all, so set it to Active.
It's available to Facebook
In Products, filter by Unavailable on Facebook, select the products, then More actions, Add available channel(s), Facebook and Make products available.
It ships and isn't free
Meta only takes products that need shipping, so digital products don't sync. A product also can't be free, and it needs a return policy.
It has a product category
Every product needs a Google product category. Some categories need more details, such as an age group.
It meets Meta's rules
Titles, descriptions and images must meet Meta's specifications and its Commerce Policy. Meta reviews every product and can remove ones that break the rules.
Common errors and the fix
| Error | Fix |
|---|---|
| Add a product image | Upload an image, or select one for the product. |
| Select a product category | Add a Google product category, and any extra details it asks for. |
| Fix product variant errors | Add the missing variant details, such as size or color. |
| [name].myshopify.com is already being used by another business | Remove the myshopify.com domain from the other business portfolio, then connect again. |
| Account Name Not Allowed | Use your public business name, with no special characters and without the words facebook, ig or meta. |
| Login disabled | Set the channel up in a phone or computer browser, not the browser inside the Shopify app. |

How long it takes, and what else to know
- Changes sync on their own and usually show on Facebook within a few minutes, once the product has no errors.
- Collections only sync for stores based in the United States.
- Facebook Shop, Instagram Shopping and your ads share one catalog, so making a product unavailable removes it from all three.
- To tag the products on Instagram, see Instagram product tags not showing.
The easier way
- Socialhand reads your store's website and plans posts about your products for all 8 platforms, in your brand, so there's always something ready to tag.
- Each post is shaped for the platform it goes to, from captions to carousels and short videos.
- Plans start at $97 a month for all 8 platforms, and you can try it free first.
